An offshoot of New Bedford’s monthly Art, History and Architecture night Fall River launched its first AHA! Night June 21, 2014.
AHA!, a flagship program of the Community Foundation , signed a memorandum of understanding with the newly formed AHA! Fall River, intended to help invigorate the arts and culture scene in the city and the region.
Fall River started working with AHA! and the Community Foundation since 2011, attempting to mirror the second Thursday monthly AHA! nights in downtown New Bedford that have grown tremendously popular over the past 15 years.
The first AHA! Fall River was June 21st with the theme “Let There Be Light” AHA! Fall River nights will be held seasonally, with one event each in the summer, fall, winter and spring in the downtown and Purchase Street area of Fall River. Plans for single AHA! events will be planned for the months between the seasonal AHA! Nights.
The project's flagship cultural nights are held on the third Thursday of each season from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and involve downtown businesses, galleries, arts organizations, merchants, restaurants. Each season's event is themed so that distinctive cultural programs are presented and creative partner involvement remains robust.
These events present opportunities for performers, artists and humanitarians of all disciplines and levels to engage the public. On a typical AHA! Night several art exhibits open, multiple live music is presented, theater skits or a lecture take place and interactive family and adult cultural experiences abound. This night is known as one of the best times to experience Fall River's cultural renaissance in its history.
Two weeks before each AHA! Night, a detailed listed of the program will be available on this calendar page. AHA! would not be a success without the community of Fall River and surrounding towns and always invites individuals to be in touch and get involved. Please visit our contacts page to see how.
The AHA! Fall River collaborative project is funded in part by The Fall River Cultural Council, local business community sponsorship, individual donors and partner venue dues. AHA! is a 501c3 project of The Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts. The project is run by a diverse group of dedicated volunteers through its AHA! Fall River Steering Committee. Partnership in AHA! Fall River is structured around the geography and programming needs of the downtown and Purchase Street seasonal AHA! Night. Cultural organizations outside of the city's downtown and Purchase Street area are invited to participate and be a guest venue by contacting AHA! Fall River and proposing their ideas.
